Representative Connie Lane Files Bill to Repeal Voter Suppression Law

One day after Governor Sununu signed a new voter suppression law, I filed a bill to repeal the new law. The new law does NOT go into effect until after the 2024 election, but will disenfranchise thousands who rely on the affidavits allowed for about 30 years. NH is now one of the few states in the nation that requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote, which is not required under federal law. It is yet another effort by Republicans to make registering to vote and voting more difficult. It is not about voter security, as they claim - it is a flagrant attempt to make it more difficult for people to vote. Here is an article about the new law and my bill: https://indepthnh.org/2024/09/13/democrats-file-legislation-to-repeal-new-voter-suppression-law/
